Biography

Athanasios Bakas was born in Larissa in 1996. He has been a member of the Larissa Bar Association since 2021 and is a PhD Candidate in Law at Goethe University Frankfurt.

His doctoral dissertation addresses the phenomenon of excessive criminal prosecution (“overcharging”) and is conducted under the supervision of Professor Christoph Burchard.

He completed postgraduate studies in Criminal and Criminological Sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received the respective degree in 2024. Within this program he wrote his master's thesis under the supervision of Professor Grigorios Kalfelis entitled “Appeal against the direct summons (Article 322 of the Greek Code of Criminal Procedure)”.

He is a graduate of the Law School of the European University Cyprus.

He speaks English and German.
